Chandanasavam-Santalum album-sandalwood-benefits-ayurveda

Chandanasava is a classical ayurvedic medicine  used in the treatment of spermatorrhoea and burning micturition. It also improves the strength and a cardiac tonic too. It relieves excess body heat.

Classical uses of Chandanasavam:

  • Shukramehahara – used in treatment of nightfall, spermatorrhoea.
  • Balakara – improves strength and immunity
  • Pushtikara – improves nourishment.
  • Hrudya – acts as cardiac tonic
  • Vahnisandeepana – improves digestion.

Chandanasav Doses: 12 – 24 ml usually after food, or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor. It can be diluted with equal quantity of water before consuming.

Chandanasavam Ingredients: 

  1. Sandalwood – Santalum album – heart wood – 48 g
  2. Balaka – Hribera – Pavonia odorata – root – 48 g
  3. Musta – Cyperus rotundus – rizhome – 48 g
  4. Gambhari – Gmelina arborea – stem bark and root – 48 g
  5. Nilotpala – Utpala – Nymphea stellata – flower – 48 g
  6. Priyangu – callicarpa macrophylla – Flower – 48 g
  7. Padmaka – Prunus poddum – stem – 48 g
  8. Lodhra – symplocos racemosa – stem bark – 48 g
  9. Manjishta – Rubia cordifolia – Root – 48 g
  10. Raktachandana – Pterocarpus marsupium – Heart wood – 48 g
  11. Patha – Cyclea peltata – root / whole plant – 48 g
  12. Kiratatikta – Swertia chiraita – whole plant – 48 g
  13. Nyagrodha – Ficus benghalensis – stem bark – 48 g
  14. Pippali – Long pepper – Fruit – 48 g
  15. Madhuka – Madhuka longifolia – Flower – 48 g
  16. Rasna – Pluchea lanceolata – Root / whole plant – 48 g
  17. Patola – pointed gourd leaf  48 g –
  18. Kanchanara – Bauhinia variegata – stem bark – 48 g
  19. Amratvak – Bark of mango – 48 g
  20. Mocharasa – Shalmali – Bombax malabaricum – Exudate – 48 g
  21. Dhataki – Woodfordia fruticosa – Flower – 768 g
  22. Draksha – Dry grapes – 960 g
  23. Sharkara – sugar candy – 4.8 kg
  24. Jaggery – 2.4 kg
  25. Water – 24.576 liters
