Pippalyasavam is a widely used Ayurvedic liquid medicine for the treatment of indigestion, loss of appetite etc..

It is also called as  – Pippalyasava, Pippalyadyasava, etc.

It is a liquid fermented preparation.

Indications of Pippalyasavam:
Kshaya – Tuberculosis, depletion of muscle mass and body strength
Gulma – round and hard abdominal mass formation
Karshya -emaciation
Grahani – malabsorption syndrome, IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome)
Pandu – anemia
Arsha – hemorrhoids

Pippalyasav dose: 12 – 24 ml once or twice daily, after food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.


Pippalyadyasavam ingredients: 

Long pepper – 24 g
Black pepper – 24 g
Chavya – Piper cubeba – 24 g
Turmeric – 24 g
Chitraka – Plumbago zeylanica – 24 g
Musta – cyperus rotundus – 24 g
Vidanga – Embelia ribes – 24 g
Puga – Betel nut – 24 g
Lodhra – Symplocos racemosa – 24 g
Patha – Cyclea peltata – 24 g
Amla – 24 g
Cardamom – 24 g
ushira – vetiveria zizanioides -24 g
Sandalwood – 24 g
Kushta – Saussurea lappa – 24 g
Clove – 24 g
Tagara – Valeriana wallichii – 24 g
Bigger variety of clove – 24 g
Cinnamon – 24 g
Priyangu – Callicarpa macrophylla – 24 g
Nagakeshara – Mesua ferrea – 24 g

The coarse powder of all the above herbs is added with 24.5 liters of water, 14.4 kg of jaggery 480 grams of Dhataki (Woodfordia fruticosa) and 22.88 kg of Draksha(dry grapes).  The container is kept closed.

Duration – One Month

Then it is filtered and stored in air tight containers.
